Hello and welcome to Year 5. Our names are Mr Godbold, who is sporting mad and loves magic, and Mr Claydon, who loves building and creating things. Year 5 is made up of two classes - Swifts with Mr Godbold and Kingfishers with Mr Claydon. This year we will be taking every opportunity to do it right, do it well and do it! Year 5 is just a stepping stone away from Year 6 so we want to equip the children with all the skills they will need to be able to step confidently into their final year in primary school.

Hello everyone and welcome back to your final term in year 5. It has been an incredible year so far and we are excited to carry on this journey together!

In the Summer term, we will be learning about the Mayans and how they compared to the Anglo Saxons - continuing to build our knowledge of time. In RE, we will be taking the time to look at who should be in charge and make decisions. In geography, we will also be looking at the desert as a habitat - linking learning to our science topic of animals and their habitats.

In English this term, we will be taking the time to look at biographies. We will look at the key features of a biography and take the opportunity to write our own about a famous person. We will also be looking into what makes an effective short story.

In maths, we will spend time recapping essential mathematical skills in preparation for Year 6. We will also finish our current year 5 learning looking at a range of units including measurements, roman numerals and word problems.

We are very excited for the term ahead!
