Year 4

Welcome to the Year 4 class page. Year 4 consists of two classes: Willows taught by Mrs Williams and Poplars taught by Mr Tricker. You might not know that Mr Tricker loves all things sporty and is a dedicated supporter of Ipswich Town Football Club. Mr Tricker is an avid cricket fan and he is a bit of a petrol head; his car is immaculate. Mrs Williams loves exploring quirky cities and cheesy musical theatre, plus she loves pop music and reading. She is not keen on cricket, but will try hard to learn to love it! 

This year we will be taking #everyopportunity to embody our school motto: ‘Do it right, do it well, do it’ in everything that we do. We are both passionate about learning and we know you will take on new challenges with grit and determination. . 

Throughout the year there are many exciting topics, activities and trips on offer. It is also an important year for times tables as we take part in the statutory multiplication check in the summer term. With this in mind, it is vitally important that homework is completed every week using TT Rockstars. What we really want to do is have a bit of healthy competition between the classes, so get those times tables in your heads ready for the win! We will also be sending you extra maths videos that we post on Google Classroom.

Year 4 is your last year in Lower Key Stage 2, so you will be preparing for your next exciting learning journey in Upper Key Stage 2. You are our role models, leaders and citizens of our community; do not forget, the younger children look upon you as ambassadors and we expect high standards. Kindness, manners and respect will be key. We will make this year amazing, but it is also your time to shine and remember, “Never let the fear of striking out stop you from playing the game.” -Babe Ruth
