Year 1

Hello and welcome to Year 1! Year 1 consists of two wonderful classes: Squirrels with Miss Barber and Hedgehogs with Miss Bullard. The other adults supporting you in Year 1 will be: Miss Anderson, Mrs Snell and Miss Wickiewicz. In Year 1, we love learning indoors and outdoors and we have so many exciting things to share with you!

Some of our interesting topics that we will cover in Year 1 are: ‘Our Local Area’ in geography, ‘Families, Relationships and Transitions’ in ‘Me and the World',’ ‘Toys and How They Have Changed’ in history and ‘Exploring Animals’ in science.

Our maths and English work will be full of new learning. In English we focus on different books, we love acting out stories and improving our oracy skills. In Phonics, we follow ‘Little Wandle’ and our phonics lessons will be similar to what you have been used to. In maths we follow White Rose, and we will be learning through a variety of ways. 

We strongly encourage you to sign up for Google Classroom; we post optional work that you can engage with at home, plus learning that we have completed at school, just like Tapestry!
