Year 1

Welcome to year 1, in year 1 we have 2 classes: Hedgehogs with Mrs Hughes and Mrs Fitzgerald, Squirrels with Mrs Peto. In year 1 we will have lots of fun while exploring and learning new skills . We enjoy gaining independence and having new experiences, this includes our forest school sessions. 

As we start the third and final term in year 1, we just want to say how proud we are of all the children and their learning so far. We start the term off with the text ‘River Story’ in our English lessons that will link in with our geography, looking at how rivers are formed. In science we will start by looking at parts of a plant including deciduous and evergreen trees and then exploring the seasons into summer 2. Our trip this term will be linked to our science topic plants. In DT this term will be looking at food groups, how to prepare fruits and vegetables, what our bodies need to stay healthy and eating a balanced diet eating from all the food groups.
