Hello and welcome to Nursery! Our names are Mrs Briggs and Mrs Self and we share teaching of the Bees nursery. We are supported by Mrs Cronin and Mrs Witt.
Children in nursery are able to access the continuous provision in a well resourced environment using the inside and outside area daily.
We get to know the children as individuals very well through careful observations of children engaged in their play and then plan appropriate play based activities ‘in the moment’ based on each child and their interests to move their learning on.
Throughout children’s time with us, we focus on developing friendships, learning routines and developing some independent skills. Alongside following the children’s interests there are also some familiar predictable events we will introduce such as looking at the weather and seasons and changes we notice; with plants and animals; we will discuss celebrations that are important to us
In the autumn term we will discuss celebrations that are important to us; birthdays, Diwali, and Christmas. We will participate in a shared Christmas event singing songs and we will enjoy a puppet show from a visiting company.
In the Spring term we will discuss celebrations that are important to us; birthdays, and will learn about how some people celebrate Chinese New Year and Easter.
In the summer term we will continue to develop our independent skills and will begin to talk about ‘big school’ engaging the children moving on in some transition activities for reception. Not only will we be welcoming some new friends to play with, we will also welcome some very exciting visitors that have slightly more than 2 legs! But these won’t stay the same for long. Don’t forget to look at our Twitter page if you want to find out more. @Beesclifflanep1
As well as daily outdoor experiences we will have the opportunity for weekly Forest Schools sessions. We will develop our perseverance, independence and resilience through a variety of experiences including using tools, lighting fires and den making. We may also venture out on a short trip in our local area.
Throughout the year we grow our love of words with a weekly poem from the ‘Poetry Basket’ and develop our imagination and storytelling with ‘helicopter stories’.
