What to expect in Reception at Cliff Lane

Reception at Cliff Lane consists of two classes - Minnows and Tadpoles (you will notice when you join us that all of our classes have an 'eco' theme!)

Early learning opportunities are central to the provision we offer at Cliff Lane. We value each child's individuality and autonomy and hope to let this shine through their learning. We have a 'child initiated' approach to learning, which means every learning experience is unique to each individual child. To support this pedagogy, we provide enabling indoor and outdoor environments to enhance all learning opportunities.

Some of our key values for Reception include:

  • The importance of early literacy, numeracy and oracy skills.

  • Our partnership with parents and carers (we use the online platform, Tapestry)

  • Difference and diversity

  • Our school promise - Do it right, do it well, do it!

Here is some useful information...

  • Our school uniform expectations

  • Free school meals application - As a school, we can receive additional funding if your child is entitled for free school meals. Please follow the link to go to the Suffolk website where you can make an application to see if you are eligible for free school meals. Even if you are unsure of your eligibility, we would very much appreciate your application.

  • What to expect, when? document - guidance on your child's learning and development in the early years foundation stage.

  • Tapestry - The following website offers some really useful guides for using tapestry as well as some activities that you could do with your children at home.
