On Tuesday 8th October, the Year 6 children went on a trip to Clifford Road Air Raid Shelter Museum. It was amazing to experience and sit inside an intact air raid shelter that would have been used by school children in World War Two. The shelter was filled with artefacts from the war including the “Mickey Mouse” gas mask.
Years 4, 5 and 6 School Learning Councillors went to the Houses of Parliament and followed in the footsteps of MPs, Lords, bishops and royalty! We stood in the House of Commons and the House of Lords but we weren’t allowed to sit down because we are not members! We saw the Queen’s robing room, where she gets ready to open parliament, and we saw the golden throne in the House of Lords where she sits to do her speech. We learned a lot about the history of parliament and the suffragettes. It was a tiring day but it was a lot of fun and very interesting.
