Year 2 Cineworld Trip

On Monday, Year 2 celebrated ‘Into Film Festival’ by visiting Cineworld to watch the film ‘Abominable’. Children had a lovely morning and thoroughly enjoyed the film. On our walk to and from the cinema, we also saw that a new boat had docked in Ipswich Marina – Noah’s Ark!

Year 5 Trip to Pizza Express

 

Year 5 visited Pizza Express on 5th November 2019 at the Marina to learn how to make pizzas as part of their topic ‘The World Menu’. They thoroughly enjoyed constructing their pizzas and they definitely enjoyed eating them afterwards.

Year 3 and 4 Football Tournament

On Tuesday, children from Year 3 and 4 took part in the Asset Football Tournament at Ipswich Town Football Club. The children played incredibly well, and we were so impressed to see their fantastic football skills. The children also got to meet ITFC Player, Idris Mizouni and had a special group photo taken in the stadium. Alex received the Fairplay Award for demonstrating amazing sportsmanship to a player on the opposition who was injured.
Well done to all of those who took part!

Year 2 Tie-Dye

This week, Year 2 researched the process ‘Tie-Dye’ and then designed, created and evaluated their own tie-dye t-shirts. Children used elastic bands to create their desired design. The designs the children created were called Tiger, Spiral and Marble. Children selected their own colour of dye and dyed their t-shirts themselves. We were so impressed with the results!

Catch 22

The school is working in partnership with a social business called Catch 22 who are helping us to transform our wildlife area. Look out for more ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures!

Year 6 Trip to Clifford Road Air Raid Shelter…

On Tuesday 8th October, the Year 6 children went on a trip to Clifford Road Air Raid Shelter Museum. It was amazing to experience and sit inside an intact air raid shelter that would have been used by school children in World War Two. The shelter was filled with artefacts from the war including the “Mickey Mouse” gas mask.

National Poetry Day

Last week children in Years 1-6 celebrated National Poetry Day by learning poems and performing them to their class. The children learnt some important oracy skills including projecting their voice and using actions and gestures to engage their audience.

Visit from Olympic Athlete Andy Vernon

On Friday 20th September, Olympic and Commonwealth Athlete, Andy Vernon visited the school as part of his promotion for the Great East Run. Children from Year 2 and 3 had the chance to take part in the Daily Mile with Andy, an initiative we use across the school. Andy also answered lots of questions for the children. They were particularly excited to find out how many medals and trophies he had won!
