Year 3 visited Ipswich Museum this week, to build on their knowledge of Ancient Egypt. The children were able to hold ancient artefacts, dating back almost 5000 years, and learn about the mummification process. They were amazed to see a real life mummy in its original sarcophagus, which was 3000 years young! The children also had a workshop on Egyptian Gods, where they were able to try on costumes whilst learning about ancient beliefs. They learnt that some were depicted just as symbols and others had the form of living creatures.
To round off the day, the children reflected on their learning and recreated their favourite artefact or God using clay. This hands on experience has ignited the children’s imagination, and we are excited to learn more about Ancient Egypt this term.
